neighbours in Sweden, Norway and Finland is that we generally thaw from winter a month before the other courses who are in direct competition.” The greens are pure creeping bent and
are maintained at 3mm during the summer and at 3.5 mm during the early spring and late summer periods. They are pedestrian cut daily with Toro Flex machines and rolled twice a week with turf irons.

GETTING Personal...
Spencer Lloyd-Pye - it’s a good job we don’t call this feature ‘Twenty Questions’ anymore!
Who are you? Spencer Lloyd-Pye, Course Superintendent at Lübker Golf Resort in Denmark.
Family status? A girlfriend, Ursula, three wonderful daughters, Kirsty, Chelsea and Abby, and two grandchildren, Hollie and Lexie.
Who’s your hero and why? Sergio Aguero - years of turmoil over in seconds. What a goal.
What is your dream holiday? Go to Brazil and, after nearly twenty years and counting of watching them around the globe, watch England lift that trophy again.
What annoys you the most? The Great British gutter press.
What would you change about yourself? Not put weight on when I look at food. So hard getting it back off as you get older.
Favourite record, and why? Champagne Supernova by Oasis - you had to be there!
Who would you choose to spend a romantic evening with? Apart from my girlfriend Ursula? Christy Turlington, I probably wouldn’t say much, but I’m sure she is great to talk to.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Never done it, but if I did, I would pay the Spanish team to defect to England; then Russia here we come.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given? If it’s too good to be true then it’s probably not!
What’s your favourite smell? Roast chicken but, after 3.00am, a kebab.
What do you do in your spare time? Ride my bike for as long as time allows.
What’s your favourite piece of kit? Coffee machine! Or the Toro Flex 21
What three words would you use to describe yourself? Honest, hardworking and loyal.

with local sand once a month during the growing season. Tees and aprons are cut three times a week at 8mm all year round using Toro Triple 3250 cylinder mowers. Fairways are cut using Toro fairway 5410 cylinder mowers set at 10mm, cutting three times a week. Feeding and applying wetting agents is
targeted around a monthly programme. No granular feeds are used; it is all in liquid form using a range of products,
