Customers will be advised thatasiteinspectionwill be undertaken before commencing anywork andavisit scheduledata convenienttime. Ahead of anyworkstarting, if theproposedmeter location configuration is differentfromthatwhich is alreadyinplace at the property,the installerwill discusswiththe customer
where themeter and communicationsmodule canbeinstalled. TheSmartMetering
Installation Code of Practice sets outthe way inwhich visits andinstallationwill be scheduledand the customerwillreceive notificationprior to the installation visit: n that themeter(s) are
duetobereplacedwitha smartmeteringsystem, and n when theenergy supplier anticipates this will happen. Whenasmart
meterisinstalled the energy supplier will be responsible forensuring that thehomeowneris shownatthe sametime howto use the IHD.
