Bidfor Steiner free school for Five Valleys
PROPOSALS for acontroversial Stein- er free school in Stroud have been for- mally submitted to the Department of Education. The school, which will be named Steiner Academy Five Valleys, will ac- commodate more than 600 pupils and has been met with amixed reaction in the Stroud area, with some people in fa- vour and others passionately opposed to the idea. If theSteiner free school is approved,
it will open in September next year. TarraGilder-Rai of SteinerAcademy
Five Valleys said: “Weare delighted thatwe have finally been able to submit our application to the Department for Education for aSteiner free school for the Five Valleys. “Wehavebeen working with the local community for the last 16 months and have been overwhelmed with the level of local support.” And she added: “Todate 658 families,
representing more than 1,100 children, have alreadycome forward to support our proposals.” Ms Gilder-Rai is hopeful prospective parents won’thavelong to wait to find out if the application has been success- ful.
“Wehope to have some positive news
to share with them in the spring,” she said.
