Osteopathy & Cranial Osteopathy... A

baby’s head is designed to absorb the forces it encounters along the compact journey through the birth canal. The skull naturally unmoulds after this journey but there may be occasions when the tension and strains may be held within the body, particularly the skull, manifesting in a variety of problems.

The miserable baby & the baby that won’t sleep - may be due to retained stresses within the skull affecting the nervous system.

The colicky baby - the nerves supplying the stomach and diaphragm originate from the head and can become compressed during the birth process which can cause colic, reflux or wind.

The baby who struggles to feed – the nerves arising around the head, neck and

throat are very important to supply the tongue when the baby is first learning to feed.

Osteopathy, particularly using the cranial approach, is a precise, safe and gentle technique that is effective for babies and children.

Mothers-to-be - can benefit from osteopathy for back and pelvic problems during and after pregnancy. Acupuncture has also been shown to be beneficial for pregnancy related problems and has been effective for aiding the baby to reach optimal positioning in breech presentation.
