Silver Lining Tere have also been a number of silver medal winning individuals at the

NAJYRC in recent years. On top of her Junior dressage freestyle gold and Junior team gold, Julie McKean and Heslegard’s Stravinsky took Junior individual silver in 2006. In addition to Missy Miller’s individual silver with TSF Amazing Grace in eventing in 2010, another eventer, Chad Geeter, riding the Trakehner mare Koket (foaled 1987, now called Koket *Ps*, by Kalluster, out of Koralle XI by Pasteur xx, bred by Henry Snyder, Marion, New York) earned silver at the 1998 NAJYC in the CCI2* Young Rider division. Chad and Koket continued climbing the levels in eventing and the following year in 1999, they completed the Rolex Kentucky Tree-Day Event CCI3*.

Brilliant Bronze At the 2011 NAJYRC another eventer, 18-year-old Brook Pickering of

Tornton, Ontario, rode her 13-year-old Anglo-Trakehner gelding Abbey Rhode to the individual bronze medal in the CCI1* Junior division. Abbey Rhode is by Sir Astrahan (who was by Always Run Lucky xx, out of Aida *E* by Händel, bred by Gerhard Schickedanz, Markham, Ontario) out of Victoria Cane xx by Ratle Dancer xx, bred by Ruth Armstrong, Ontario. Tey were clean and within the time on cross-country and helped their Ontario teammates earn a team bronze medal as well. Brook said aſter her medal win, “Te course was set up perfectly for Abbey. He comes off cross- country chomping at the bit…he wants to go and he wants to do well. He has a big stride and gets good coverage of the ground, which is what this course really needed. We just rode it really well.”
