Middle East handler moves into UK regional airports

Middle East-owned air handling company dnata is to open three new facilities at Gatwick, Birmingham, and Glasgow, in addition to its soon to be unveiled new dnata City cargo hub at Heathrow. The move brings to five the number of UK airports served by the Dubai-based operator, including its existing one at Manchester.

The cargo facilities at

Birmingham, Gatwick, and Glasgow will add 25,000 sq. ſt., 17,000 sq. ſt. and 15,000 sq. ſt. respectively to dnata City’s 206,000 sq. ſt. of cargo capacity. CEO of dnata’s UK operations,

Gary Morgan, said: “Adding cargo capacity at Birmingham, Gatwick and Glasgow airports supports the smooth flow of shipments

throughout the UK. With these new facilities

our customers

have full UK coverage through the dnata UK network.” He added that

expansion to

three of the UK’s key regional airports would allow customers to expand their import and export reach into the country: “Cargo volumes coming in and out of the UK need to easily

make it to the far reaches of the country.” The new regional facilities would give a seamless service across the UK. To date, dnata has invested

more than £100 million in the cargo infrastructure at Heathrow and throughout the UK. It is also reviewing opportunities at Newcastle and East Midlands Airports.
