Town Talk Students make
garden brighter A GROUP of Medway College students has brightened up the lives of dementia sufferers in Pil- grims View, the Avante Care and Support home in Roberts Road, Snodland. They raised £400 in a spon-
sored walk from Gillingham to Snodland, with which they bought plants for the garden, painted a summer house and treated residents to a barbecue. Activities co-ordinator at the col-
lege, Julia Schooling, said: “They carry out a project every year and chose Pilgrims View this year. They discovered that dementia sufferers benefit from certain colours so they chose yellow to brighten up the summer house. “Well done to this lovely group
of students.” Local people are invited to a
coffee morning at the home at 10.30am on November 30.
HUNDREDS of dogs and their owners packed the cricket meadow for Snodland Fun Dog Show. The event was also used to launch the Yellow Dog Project in Tonbridge andMalling. Organised by Lorraine Baseden, the council’s dog warden, it attracted entries from all over the county, and raised funds for Beth’s Dog Show, which supports the Brain Tumour Charity and the PDSA, and has raised £4,000 this year. The 18 classes included
most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, waggiest tail and most like owner. Lorraine said more dogs
were entered in the show than in previous years, and thanked Beth’s Dog Show and the trade stands for their support. The event raised £300 for the Brain Tumour Charity and £100 for Snodland Cricket Club. Tamsin Ritchie, environmen-
tal projects coordinator for the council, said the show was moved from Nevill Park to the cricket ground because it was more central. She added that the show
was well attended with a fan- tastic array of dog breeds. The borough council is sup- porting the Yellow Dog Project
