Annual Give to the Max Day Helps Organizations Statewide T

he fifth annual Give to the Max Day will be held on November 14. This

24-hour charitable-donation marathon raises money for organizations statewide through its website, GiveMN.org. In 2012, Give to the Max Day inspired more than 53,000 donors from Minnesota and beyond to give $16.3 million, breaking previous event records. Donations last year reached nearly 4,400 organizations across the

state, including K-12 public schools, a new category. The event has raised more than $75 million since it began four years ago. “Give to the Max Day has truly become a tradition for many people across the state and an invaluable resource for thousands of organizations. It’s a fun way to make a huge difference for Minnesota’s nonprofits and schools,” says Dana Nelson, executive director. “It’s so easy for people to participate by donating using a mobile device or scheduling a donation prior to the event. The toughest part is figuring out what organizations to support.” Nonprofits and schools interested in learning more about Give to the Max

Day can visit GiveMN.org for details. They can learn how to create customized profiles to showcase their work and introduce their organizations to potential donors. In addition, donors can manage their charitable contributions by recording and storing receipts. With an emphasis on mobile giving and a new incentive structure, organizers are helping donors make their contributions go farther this year.

Local Wellness Practitioner Offers Preview of Jordan Rubin’s New Book

H

ealth practitioner Paula Quin- lan, of Minneapolis, is offering a sneak preview of the new book by health expert and New York Times bestselling author Dr. Jordan Rubin. The Maker’s Diet Revolution will be on the market later this year, but Quinlan, who uses Rubin’s products in her practice, is offering the intro- duction and first chapter in advance. Rubin’s personal battle with

and triumph over Crohn’s disease earlier in his life was chronicled in his first book, The Maker’s Diet, in 2004. Rubin healed himself without medication or surgery by following a health plan based on the Bible. His healing inspired him to share his approach to wellness with others. He is the founder of Garden of Life, a whole-food nutrition company, and Beyond Organic, a grassland and organic dairy farm.

Rubin says that his greatest

nutritional revelation occurred at the end of 2012 while on a mission trip to India. The Maker’s Diet Revolu- tion will expand on three principles, or pillars, of biblical health. The program is intended to help people lose weight and detoxify the body, mind and spirit.

For more information or to request the preview sample of The Maker’s Diet Revolution, contact Paula Quinlan at 612-719-0228, email Paula@PaulaQuinlan.com or visit PaulaQuinlan.com.
