WHAT’S NEW MILLER LIFTING PRODUCTS ANNOUNCES THE INTRODUCTION OF DIN HOOK LATCHES
Cranes of all types manufactured in Europe and exported to the USA and Canada incorporate forged lifting hooks made to European standards DIN15401 (for single hooks) and DIN15402 (for double hooks), and require unique hook latches designed specifi cally for DIN standard hooks. DIN standard hooks are found on mobile cranes, overhead cranes, port cranes, off shore cranes, on hook blocks manufactured by European producers, as well as on hook blocks manufactured by Miller Lifting Products. Miller Lifting Products is the primary provider of DIN standard hooks in North America. DIN standard hooks are available in capacities from 3 (metric) tons to 1200 (metric) tons. Specifying and locating replacement hook latches for DIN standard hooks is made faster and easier by Miller Lifting.
Replacement safety latches for DIN standard hooks are available from Miller. Miller stocks the complete range of hook latches for single and duplex DIN standard hooks. Miller’s “Latch Kits for Standardized European Shank Hooks” information sheet is available on Miller Lifting Product’s website,
www.millerproducts.net. This simple information sheet details ordering information and simple instructions on how to determine which latch is needed for a specifi c hook by hook frame number.

WHAT’S NEW MODULIFT LAUNCHES CMOD SPREADER FRAME Summer 2013 has seen the development of Modulift’s
fi rst Modular Spreader Frame. Modulift are already the market leaders in Spreader Beam design and manufacture, but they have now extended their modular off ering, by launching the CMOD Spreader Frame!
The development of the CMOD has been in response to cus- tomer demand and a gap in the market for a truly adaptable frame: one that maintains its engineering principles as its confi guration adapts. Designed with ease and economy in mind – the CMOD is simple for the user to set up, maneuver and equally easy for the user to reconfi gure to any size frame – allowing for multiple uses and diverse application.
The CMOD Spreader Frame comprises the Modulift struts (as per the Modulift Spreader Beam range) and adds the

newly designed CMOD Corner Units. Available from CMod6 up to CMod70.
During the development process focus groups were asked to review the CMOD against a standard fi xed frame: one recognized point was existing customers can adapt their current Spreader Beam into a frame, by simply bolting on the corre- sponding CMOD Corner Units and any additional struts required.
Another point noted from the focus group was the ease of transportation… Even the largest CMOD frame (stretching 12m x 12m) can be easily transported as the frame is broken down into its modular parts, saving the cost of specialist transportation and logistics.
The CMOD Spreader Frame is strong too – currently lifting up to 70t, with plans for 110t capacity, in development! Spans
ranging from 0.5m2 to 12m2, whilst adapting up to 1m x 12m in a rectangular frame, (and all spans in between). The system was designed to BS EN 13155 factors – Non Fixed Lifting Load Attachments and conforms to GL Noble Denton guidelines concerning Shackles.
