Ipswich School Festival of Music 2013
The Old Ipswichian Club is once again proud to be one of the sponsors of the fourth Festival of Music, which takes place from Thursday 26 September to Wednesday 2 October. The Club is sponsoring the Big Band Bonanza on Wednesday 2 October.
The Festival was launched on the evening of 19th April, when Andrew Leach announced the Festival line-up. Nicholas McCarthy, virtuoso pianist and a member of the British Paraorchestra, performed to the invited audience.
Sun 29 Sept Organ recital by Nick Freestone, former organ scholar at Ipswich School. 5.15pm – Chapel. Followed by Festival Evensong. 6.30pm – Chapel.
Mon 30 Sept Piano Recital by Joanna MacGregor OBE. 7.30pm – Great School. Virtuoso classical, jazz and contemporary pianist who has performed as a soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras.
Tues 1 Oct Lunchtime concert: Britten Sinfonietta and Wagner Siegfried Idyll. 1.10-1.50pm – St Mary-le-Tower Church, Ipswich. Admission free – retiring collection.
Tues 1 Oct Voces8. 7.30pm – Great School. Award-winning octet singing a capella, with music spanning Renaissance polyphony to unique jazz and pop arrangements.
Weds 2 Oct Big Band Bonanza: Ipswich Musicians’ Union Big Band and Ipswich School Big Band. 7.30pm – Great School.

Fri 27 Sept Jazz Night! with The Joe Stilgoe Trio. 7.30pm - Great School. “A truly remarkable singer songwriter, not to mention piano player” (Sir Michael Parkinson)
Sat 28 Sept Family Orchestral Concert with the Zootube Orchestra. 2pm and 5pm - Great School. The Zootube orchestra returns with Prokoviev’s Peter and the Wolf.
Sun 29 Sept Afternoon Tea with the Gainsborough Quartet. 3pm - Little School. Outstanding Suffolk-based quartet plays music from Haydn to Gershwin – afternoon tea included!
