a suCCessful parTnership – for auTism soCieTy and Targa neWfoundland!

arga newfoundland, its drivers, and annual live/silent auctions made possible by dona- tions from the community, contributed more

than $250,000 to the Autism Society of newfound- land & Labrador (ASnL) these past three years. fig- ure 1 shows revenue sources for the past three years. figure 2 shows revenue percentages spent improving programs and services for participants and capabilities and knowledge base of staff mem- bers working with those participants – training was provided by the finest experts in the field!

ASnL is a non-profit, provincial organization dedi-

cated to fostering the development of individualized, lifelong, community-based supports and services for persons with autism. It was formed in 1984 as a support network for parents and professionals across the province working to improve the lives of those affected by the disorder. the Society now con- sists of 3 regional offices and a provincial headquar- ters located in the elaine dobbin Centre for Autism at Shamrock farm in St. John’s. the Autism Society is committed to the promo-

tion of acceptance, independence, productivity and opportunities for inclusion in all facets of life for per- sons with Autism Spectrum disorder and their fami- lies. In working towards these goals, it provides programs and services to individuals and families af- fected by autism, and advocates for needed health care, educational and community supports. the annual operational budget is approaching

$1.5 million, with government grants accounting for slightly more than half that amount. fundraising and donations provide the balance of the funding needed just to maintain present programs and services. targa newfoundland is a major supporter of ASnL – this year, 2013, marks the fourth anniversary of the partnership. the Autism Society – targa newfoundland Part-

nership is an outstanding success. ASnL’s board of directors and senior management team join Patron and honorary board Member elaine dobbin in thanking all participants for your continued support – and invite you to again consider donations and/or purchasing auction items at the Gala. Please accept my very best wishes for another successful and en- joyable event.

Kindest regards, Scott Crocker Executive Director Autism Society of Newfoundland & Labrador
