1. SAFE VIEWING PRINCIPLES Many of the competing cars travel very fast, and if a driver makes a mistake, the car will still be going very fast when it leaves the road; it may go much further off the road than you expect. So please take note of the following advice:
Stand at least 10 meters from road. Do not spectate close to roads, Stay well away from the roads and behind any yellow taped areas. BE AWARE OF RED TAPE AND STAY AWAY!
Never spectate on ground below the road level.
Never stand directly in the path of oncoming competitors. Even if the stage turns or changes direction, these areas are used for run off if a competitor misses the turn. BE AWARE OF RED TAPE AND STAY AWAY!
Always try and keep a solid object or natural barriers (ditches, rock outcrops, trees, poles, houses) between you and the oncoming cars.
Avoid sitting down. You may need to move quickly. If possible, vehicles parked in driveways should be parked at least 10 meters (30 feet) from the edge of the active roadway.
Other spectators may not have chosen a safe vantage point. Be proactive – tell them of the hazards and recommend safe viewing points.
