As I write this editorial, summer has finally arrived. This edition of CitySolicitor has its origins in long, lazy summer days, which allow busy City solicitors time to pause, take stock, and think about the really important things in life.


There is much evidence of this in the present edition. The professional Committees never fail to deliver detailed and insightful reports of their activities. We have chosen to showcase Tony King’s report on the Legal Education and Training Review as the cover story of this edition. The analysis carried out by the Training Committee is a substantial body of work, covering many long summer days. Tony King’s dedication has been noted and, later in the edition, he reappears in our report of the Company’s AGM, held recently.


In our headlong quest to prove that City solicitors can enjoy life outside of the office, we introduce the little known Lawyers Cricket World Cup to our readers. We also welcome Philip Henson, making his big screen debut as the CitySolicitor film correspondent. We commend his incisive reviews in this edition.
