city of Harrisburg, Giff ord Pinchot State Park may not be as much a wilderness area as Pinchot’s other public lands namesake, the 1.32 million acre national forest in Washington state, this state park still has a lot to off er trail riders in south-central Pennsylvania.

With about fi ve miles of dedicat- ed day-use trails wandering through- out the northeastern corner of the park, arranged in numerous interconnected looping trails, riders have the option of going on rides of any length they desire. Trail footing varies as you ride the hills that rise above scenic Pinchot

Lake. From rocky to a few muddy spots you’ll most likely fi nd it. A dedicated equestrian parking area helps reduce congestion and is

large enough to hold 10 truck and trailer rigs. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the equestrian trailhead.

Robert Eversole owns and operates www.TrailMeister.com, a website dedicated to providing maps and trail information to equestrian trail users. In addition to providing trail maps and reviews he also provides pertinent trail-use data to riders across the nation. A US Marine and most recently a refugee from corporate America, Robert is enjoying his new career helping fellow trailriders stay found and safe on the trail.

And with that I’ll wrap up this month’s trail picks and wish you all a very pleasant month of riding across America. For more information on these and over 1,500 riding and camping areas in North America please visit www.TrailMeister.com
