I hope this article finds all fellow TTA Members well. It is hard to believe that the first quarter is already in the rearview mirror. Time flies and I guess it is a sign that I am getting older. I have always heard that once you hit forty the years go by a lot faster. So far it seems to be true.

As many of you know the Technician and Truck Driving Competitions are just around the corner with the Tech Competition taking place on April 12th and Truck Driving Championship taking place on April 26th and 27th. There is still time to register for these events, but the slots are filling up fast. There is still time for any of you who want to sponsor either of these events or both if you would like to do so. These events give our professional drivers and technicians the opportunity to showcase their abilities and it also gives them opportunity to be recognized by their peers in our industry. These two events are just a couple of many that our association offers to its membership.

Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA) has served as the voice for Tennessee’s trucking industry since 1930. TTA is a trade as- sociation dedicated to the furtherance of the trucking industry’s goals and interests in Tennessee and theUnited States. Our membership is a diverse group comprised of motor carriers, both public and private, and companies providing products and services to the industry. TTA serves these companies as a governmental affairs representative before legislative, regulatory and executive branches of government on issues that affect the trucking industry. The organization also provides public relations services, operation services and serves as a forum for industry meetings and membership relations.

By now all of you should have received 2013 dues for membership. I want to encourage each of you to get these in. Speaking for myself I sometimes tend to procrastinate on things. I also know that when it comes time to renew or pay dues for some of the things that our company participate in I really have to reflect on whether or not we are getting a Return On Investment (ROI), but when it comes to our TTA Dues it is one that does not take any thought and it is easy for me to send it over to AP for payment. We (DHT) have been a member of TTA for many years and it is an association that I am proud to be a member of and be able to serve. The friendships, business relationships that have been built along with the services we have been able to take advantage of are terrific. I hear from a lot of our vendors that are members of multiple state associations that the TTA is one of the best and that they get the best bang for their buck with TTA. I know that Dave has listed several of the programs that TTA offers in his article so I will not list them again, but I do know that our company has utilized probably 90 percent of them and it doesn’t take long to realize the ROI we have received as a result of these programs.

If you have any questions or if there is anything that the Association or I can do for any of you please do not hesitate to contact us.

I hope all of you have a good and prosperous spring and rest of the year! Until next time let’s Keep on Trucking Safely!!!

May God continue to bless each of you, your family, and your company!!
