Williams in the Vale of Glamorgan, finished second to 66-1 shot Aurora’s Encore, ahead

trainer Rebecca Curtis wasall smiles on Saturdaynight follow- ing the nine-year-old’sperform- ance.


“He jumped amazinglywell


and had an absolutelybrilliant round,”she said. “It wasprobablyjust the


weight thatgot to him in the end —hehad 11 stone three pounds and the winner wasonalight weight —but we’redelighted with him, it wasjust brilliant. “We’re happythathegot


round safelyand aredelighted to be third. “He came out of the race well


and just hit the last fence.We couldn’t have asked formore


really. It wasjust greattobe placed.” Rebecca began training on her


father’sdairy farmFforest Farm, Newport and trained her first winner in 2008 with Mango Catcher.She went on to train eight winners in her first season, and built on thatagain when sending out 25 winners the fol- lowing season. This season she has celebrated


severalsuccessful runs,including avictory at the Cheltenham


FestivalinMarch. She wasalso delighted with a


win in the Grade 1John Smiths’ Sefton Novices Hurdle,won by another of her horses,AtFishers Cross. She added: “It wasreallynice


to see him do it on the better ground and on adifferent sort of track. He’sdone nothingbut improveall season and Ishould think with asummer’sgrass he’ll be stronger and hopefullybet- ter.”
