Heathrow Airport Holdings at the TVPF
Heathrow Airport Holdings is linking up with the Thames Valley Property Forum at this year's annual conference to be held in the parade ring at Ascot Racecourse, writes Matthew Battle, conference chairman
Following on from last year’s successful conference, which saw more than 180 delegates representing the property sector in the Thames Valley, UK Property Forums will be repeating the successful format on September 12 in Ascot.
The conference content has been revised to ensure that new sponsors, partners and sessions remain relevant to the current market trends that are driving the commercial, industrial, and retail property markets in the Thames Valley.
One of the keynote presentations will come from a main board director at Heathrow Airport who will explore the benefits and connections that exist between the airport and Thames Valley business. A decision by the Davies commission on the
final location of a single UK airport hub will happen after the next general election. An interim report will be published in Autumn 2013 and it is important that the Thames Valley business community engages in this discussion. The Property Forum in September represents a unique opportunity for delegates to hear about the various options and how Heathrow Airport Holdings proposes to develop a Thames Valley airport hub.
Keynotes also include an exclusive presentation on the redevelopment of the old Friars Walk shopping Centre, adjacent to Reading Station that is being developed by Sackville Developments Reading (SDRL), a joint venture between Stanhope plc and Benson Elliot. The scheme will be one of the largest mixed-use
schemes to be constructed in the UK and will really add value to the Reading Central business district. This will be complemented by the publication at the conference of the Reading Development and Investment Review 2013 by Hicks Baker. Other topics include the exploration of the Thames Valley as Super European Region and the implications for business.
Confirmed sponsors include Heathrow airport, SEGRO plc, SDRL, ISG plc, Rickerbys LLP, Peter Brett Associates, Hicks Baker and Barton Willmore. More sponsors and new content to be announced over the next few months.
Partners include Estates Gazette Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, University of Reading, Reading Post and The Business Magazine.

Positive sentiment at Slough Trading Estate
2012 was a successful year for SEGRO in the Thames Valley as the team completed 82 new lettings and let more than 875,000 sq ft of space across its assets, including the Slough Trading Estate. Welcoming a mix of established and growing businesses over the past year, the Estate remains a dynamic location for businesses in the Thames Valley, designed to cater for the needs of a diverse customer base
Anticipating and responding to market demand worked well at the Estate in 2012 with more than half of its speculative development at Montrose Avenue being leased to existing customer, Karl Storz, within just two months of starting construction on site. And with a focus on helping its existing customers grow, Kosei Pharma UK, a customer since 2011, more than doubled its premises at the Estate to aid its expansion plans.
With the ability to offer design-and-build solutions specifically tailored to meet a particular customer need, SEGRO constructed a state of the art, multi-million

pound factory for Ragus Sugars which opened its doors earlier this year. As well as providing Ragus with additional space to enable growth, the building also significantly cuts power and water usage helping the company meet its carbon commitments.
Also opening on site this year was a 125,000 sq ft data centre for Infinity SCD, which is its first purpose-built facility. Infinity joins Gyron, a specialist data centre service provider that joined the Estate last year, and becomes the 25th data centre provider to join SEGRO’s portfolio in the UK and its 17th at the Trading Estate.
Supporting the entrepreneurial businesses of tomorrow, the Enterprise Quarter at the Estate caters for the needs of small to medium-sized businesses and has started the year in fighting spirit welcoming a host of new customers who will benefit for the easy-in easy-out leases that are provided, as well as the business community network that is evident at the Estate.
Slough Aspire, an innovative training and development project, based at the Estate, aims to provide training and work-based skills to people in the local area. While new infrastructure, such
as Crossrail and Western Rail Access to Heathrow (WRAtH), planned for the region will further enhance the attractiveness of the area enabling journey times of approximately 32 minutes into central and west London, aiding future growth and prosperity for the Thames Valley.
