Prayer talk CHRISTIAN Science speaker, Norm Bleichman, from Massa- chusetts, will talk on “Prayer that Works” at First Church of Christ, Scien- tist, on the Cor- ner of Vinters Road and Sit- tingbourne Road,Maidstone. Using examples from the


Bible, the writings of Christian Science, and his own experi- ence, he will show how prayer can be an active, effective, and relevant means of meeting the challenges we face every day. The free talk is at 7.30pm on April 9, and all are welcome.


Club donation TUDOR Park Golf Club has pre- sented the Royal British Legion with a cheque for almost £4,000, raised throughout the year. The charity was selected as charity for the year by Andy Bell and Sheila Ratcliffe, the club’s captain and lady captain. Money was raised through competition entrance fees and raffles, and a sponsored spinathon in the gym. Julie Roper, RBL community fundraiser for Kent said, “This will make a great difference to the lives of Kent service per- sonnel and their families.”


Hospital receives survey boost


MAIDSTONE and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) has welcomed the findings of the latest report into standards of quality and safety for older pa- tients, following a visit towards at Maidstone Hospital. A team from the Care Quality Commission said Maidstone Hospital was found to be meet- ing the standards for all areas inspected, including:  People should be treated with respect, involved in discussions about their care and treatment and able to influence how the service is run.


 Food and drink should meet people’s individual dietary needs  People should be protected from abuse and staff should re- spect their human rights  There should be enough members of staff to keep people safe and meet their health and welfare needs  People’s personal records should be accurate and kept safe and confidential Interim chief of nursing, John Kennedy, said: “We’re very pleased with the finding of the CQC inspection at Maidstone

scores directly related to patient care. The percentage of staff feeling satisfied with the quality of work and patient care they provide atMTWrose from 75% in 2011 to 82% in 2012. A total of 93% of staff who took part in the survey said their role made a difference to patients. Overall, the trust had the best


set of staff survey results of all acute hospital trusts in Kent andMedway.
