Josh Widdicombe kicks off the Comedy Festival on Tuesday March 5th

, one of the best up and coming UK acts he is a regular

on Stand Up for the Week (C4) and Live at the Apollo (BBC). In Further Adventures of Josh Widdicombe he deals with his inabil- ity to embrace adventure in his life, his continued frustration with everything he comes into contact with. Unable to relax and enjoy life, Josh has instead decided it is everyone else that is at fault for his lack of enthusiasm for leaving the house. Wednesday March 6th

sees the ever-popular Mystery

Guest night, with our Comedy Patron Peter Richardson, delv- ing into his superb little black book to surprise us with an evening of entertainment from the Mystery Guest, even if we don’t know who it is until they walk on stage! Previous guests have included Keith allen, Eddie izzard, Harry Enfield & robbie coltrane. The following nights you are seriously spoilt for choice, Thursday March 7th

at the Windjammer you can find stand-up

poet Jonny Fluffypunk. Jonny is a wandering bard and voice for anarchy, peace and bicycles! With one parent dead and the other mad, it is only his partner and son to disappoint! Acute social observation, intricate humour, surreal fantasy, sharp irony and wit .. and England’s most pretentious moustache! Headlining at The Flavel on Thursday March 7th is the inimitable Virginia Ironside and her Grow- ing Old Disgracefully tour. Famous in the last three decades as a rock journalist and then agony aunt she now takes to the stage to put the world to rights at 68 she takes a flame-thrower to all the cosy platitudes of the elderly! So when an agony aunt reaches sixty, she can lie like a trouper, jump off a bridge or take to the stage. Virginia has taken the latter option and will explain that unlimited free drugs, fun funerals, grandchildren and sex (or even better, no sex!) make it the best and funniest time of

your life! The Royal Castle Hotel is the host on Friday March 8th

for

Jarlath Regan, one of the most prolific irish humourists of the past ten years who presents a comedy extravaganza of tales and illustrated points around, but not exclusively, on the subject of optimism in a bleak world. Award-winning comedian and writer Jarlath has gained a reputation with the industry and audiences for his uplifting, inventive and relentlessly funny stand-up. At the Flavel we are delighted to be in the waiting room of Dr Phil Hammond. This show is seriously good for your health - a GP, writer, broadcaster and possibly the only comedian to have appeared at a public inquiry. If you only see one doctor this year, make it Dr Phil.... He is Private Eye’s medical correspondent and has appeared on Have I Got News for You, The News Quiz etc. He is rude about everything (politicians, doctors, death, drugs, sex,) On Saturday March 9th

at 2pm some sock filled fun and a pup-

pet show with a twist for all the family at The Flavel with The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre and their hilarious Chunky Woollen Nits. The Socks present their brand new sci-fi themed show for 2013. With songs, sketches, socks & violence - hilarious and not to be missed by adults or kids 7 and upwards. In the evening of Saturday March 9th

at the Flavel

Seann Walsh

you have two stars. At 7pm, The Amazing Mr. Smith a delightfully eccentric comic musician he has been described as Monty Python’s answer to John Williams, a definite one-off. His combination of mad musical inventions and brilliant acoustic guitar play- ing make him one of the funniest and most original entertainers around. The cardboard tube double bass, the musical shoelaces, the Nutcracker played on the tutu - xylophone, the Blue Danube on the condom harp and his 3-minute rendition of Riverdance all have
