In spite of her childhood desire to make it as a pop star one day, Amelia thanks those around her for making the dream a reality. Namely, her dad. “I never even thought about auditioning for the X Factor,” she explains. “But my dad kept on encouraging me. He kept saying he thought I could do well on the show. I’d argue back that so many people audition, but he kept insisting. It’s a good job I listen to him! Every single day of the past year, I’ve thought, ‘how did I get through those nerves?’ at the audition. I was shaking, my mouth was so dry, I could hardly talk without crying. I’ve never been so petrified in my whole life. I don’t know how I got the vocals out, but I just kept saying to myself, ‘do not mess this opportunity up, you’re never going to get this chance again.””


It’s that spirit that has seen Amelia get to where she’s at; signed and releasing her first album at just 17 years old, with a Number 2 single under her belt. She’s a girl with big ambitions, but with the talent to pull it off, and the determination of youth on her side, it won’t be long before you see even more of those dreams being realized.

Getting back on stage, unsurprisingly, is something that Amelia is yearning for.
