Moon-favourable planting M

any gardeners swear by the practice of planting by the phases of the moon. This is based on the theory that the moon

exerts the same gravitational pull on plants as it does on the tides. Not everyone agrees. Scientists say that this is silly and that

plants are too tiny to be influenced by gravitational pull. Gardeners, however, maintain that the moon phases do affect

the way the plants grow, influencing not only individual plants but also the amount of water near the surface of the earth. They also say that seedling and plant roots absorb more moisture during the full moon. New moon: Said to help root growth. Ideal time to grow plants

that put for external seeds cu as lettuce, broccoli, celery and spinach. Second quarter: Said to help leaf growth. Sow plants that

grow seeds in their fruit, such as peppers, tomatoes, and beans. Full moon: Gravitational pull at highest. Moonlight influences

growth. Plant root vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, radishes, onions and beets Last quarter. Let the garden rest.
