association with Capital Reads,CardiffLibraries is hosting afree dayof comic-themed events on SaturdayJanuary 19 at CardiffCentral Library (next to John
Lewis). Forthe younger crowd there isaChildren’s Comic BookWorkshop,aimed at ages 8-12, from11am to noon. Children will have the chance to drawand design their owncolourful comics and characters, with allmaterials provid- ed.

evening where bou- tique stalls adorn the foyer from 5pm until 11pm and performance fills the air in the café from 7pm. All types of perform-
ers are welcome and all youneed to do is turn up on the night. If you’re alocal cre-
ativeperson and would like to sell your wares, be it handmade jew- ellery,bespoke fashion, vintage vinyl,artwork or something complete- ly unusual, please get in touchtopre-book a stall. Previous stalls have
included vinyl,vintage, toiletries,cakes,cloth- ing, jewellery,acces- sories and cards, unusual gifts and more. Sessions will take place either in the café/bar and outside on the terrace or in the upstairs bar,depending
win prizes as well as some freebies

Art tour celebrates 56 years OnShow
56:56, atouring group exhibition celebrating fifty six years of the influential 56 Group Wales artist group opens at Newport art gallery later this month. The exhibition will feature
work by current and associate members including Robert Alwyn Hughes,Ken Elias, Dennis Gardner,Robert Harding, Clive Hicks-Jenkins,Carol Hiles, Harvey Hood, Sue Hunt, Dilys Jackson Glyn Jones,Martyn Jones,Kay Keogh, Victoria Malcolm, TomPiper,Richard Renshaw, Peter Seabourne,John Selway, Christopher Shurrock, Kevin Sinnott, Antonia Spowers, Peter Spriggs,Alison Lochhead, Justine Johnson, and Pete Williams. The 56:56 opening event takes place Saturday, January 26, at 11.30am and continues until April 6. Afurther exhibition by David Garner entitled Shift is also scheduled to run from April 20 to June 29.
