EC YOUNG MASTERS

EC Young Masters is an Entrepreneur Country monthly feature which showcases the work of some of the best entrepreneurs and innovators in the UK who are under the age of 30 (which we call the EC Young Masters Community). Our panel of judges will each week be introducing our readers to three of Britain’s most talented and exciting young entrepreneurs.

1. Tell us about VIDAFX.co.uk... VIDAFX.co.uk is the future of travel money, offering a safer, cheaper, easier and more transparent way to pay for things whilst abroad than taking cash or using your credit or debit card.

2. How did your entrepreneurial journey begin? It began during a round the world trip I took during my gap year. I had just visited South America and was mugged three times – I then found it really difficult to get quick access to money and was forced to borrow from friends.

Upon my return to the UK I started researching the currency market and after 18 months of preparation, negotiation and planning we launched.

3. What has been your biggest achievement so far? Turning an idea into a fully functioning business and being ambitious enough to enter a market with huge incumbent firms. The currency card industry is one of the most heavily regulated in the world so to have my own offering out there vying for competition is a big achievement.

4. Where do you see your company in 5 years?

I see a very bright future for VIDAFX.co.uk and I think our partnership with MasterCard should see the site expand rapidly.

5. What is the best advice you’ve been given? Go where the puck is going, not where it is. We live in a world that is innovating faster and faster, and you have to be quick to embrace new technologies and ways of thinking.
