ALUMNI NEWS Dr. Thomas’ Achievement Recognized

The American College of Surgeons, a non- profit professional association of over 78,000 surgeons, is developing an interac- tive online timetable highlighting the mile- stones in surgery during the past 100 years. In August they contacted Dr. Abra- ham Thomas and requested permission to

place him and the Ludhiana Christian Medical College on this timeline to mark the first ever face and scalp replant which he successfully performed on the 9-year-old girl whose face and scalp was torn off in a farming accident. We congratulate Dr. Thomas and the Ludhiana Christian Medical College on this very high honor, and believe it to be the only milestone en- tered from India. Sandeep Kaur, the girl he operated on, has completed her education and currently serves as a staff nurse at Ludhiana CMC. Dr. Abraham Thomas serves at the Director of CMC and graduated in the batch of 68.

Dr. Elizabeth Paul, New Alumni President for NA

Dr. Elizabeth Paul (batch of 64) was recent- ly elected to serve as the new president of the Ludhiana CMC Alumni Association of North America. An important announce- ment she has made is about next year’s annual Alumni October reunion. “Next year’s annual alumni meeting and reunion will be held in India, with a 6 to 7 day tour

of Kerala (God’s own Country) and a three-day trip down memory lane at CMC Ludhiana. The program is open to all CMC graduates and their guests. The details of the trip and program will be posted on the web.” Read Dr. Paul’s entire letter on the web at: http://cmcnaa.org

Dr. Kenneth Scott and Max Marble

Dr. Navneet Chaudhry, current Head of Surgery at CMC, and board member Phyllis Bowers recently visited with Dr. Forrest Eggleston where he lives in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. In our office we have books authored by both of these missionaries. We will send both of them to you for a do- nation of $25 or either one of them for $15. Dr. Scott’s book is called “Around the World in Eighty Years” and Dr. Eggleston’s book is “Where Is God Not?”

VISITS TO DR. SCOTT AND DR. EGGLESTON

Missionaries Dr. Kenneth Scott and Dr. Forrest Eggleston have both served as Directors of the Ludhiana Christian Medical College. Dr. Scott was the Director of CMC from 1963 to 1974. Dr. Eggleston served as Head of Surgery from 1953 and as Di- rector from 1982 to 1986. I (Max Marble) had the joy of meeting Dr. Scott for the first time last Spring in his apartment in the Black Mountain, North Carolina. We had a delightful visit about his time at CMC. He wishes to convey his greetings to all of you who support the work in Ludhiana.
