A Hood Whisper Jet is in to have her hull soda blasted and Awlgripped A C&C 36 will also have her hull soda blasted and redone.
An International One design, which was cold moulded over her original hull, will be in for repairs after being involved in a collision during a race last summer. She will also need to have her boom repaired. A Duffy 35 is coming in to have her engine rebuilt, add some lights and redo her interior varnish.
Also they have a large number of stor- age boats that need some degree of work over their normal annual maintenance. This will keep them busy throughout the winter.

Nine years ago Dale fi nished a Cat’s
Paw dinghy, which was designed by Joel White. She was back this winter for her usual maintenance.
This past summer he fi nished a scaled down version of a Whitehall, which was built to be used by children on Mount Desert Island. She was launched in July and the owners found her perfect for her intended use.
Atlantic Boat Company in Brooklin is now focusing more on storage and repair than new boat construction. They have gained more than 20 percent more boats this year compared to last.
As for repair work, in one shop they are
refi tting a Hinckley 51 foot sailboat. This includes cosmetic work, systems upgrade and all new rigging. The cosmetic work includes interior varnish and painting the hull and mast.
In another bay is a brand new Grand
Banks trawler, which is in for her annual maintenance. She will also have stabilizers added.
In another bay is a Hinckley Bermuda 40, which is in for her regular maintenance. Over the last year they have had a num- ber of inquiries about using their 26-footer as a launch. In one of their sh ops they had two launches under construction for customers in New York and Connecticut. Both of these boats will be fi nished this winter.

The last time I stopped at Peter Bux-
ton’s shop in Stonington was early last sum- mer and he and the owner were laying down the lines for a brand-new 38 foot wooden lobster boat. They now have her planked up and will soon be caulking and fairing the hull. Inside the hull they have put in all the fl oors and two longitudinal stringers. Next they will be adding her engine beds. Her engine will be a 405-hp Cummins diesel. Her interior will be relatively simple with a V-berth, head and galley. Peter hopes to have this one overboard in May. As for the English sloop, also sitting in the shop, she is almost fi nished. This has been a restoration and upgrade project over the last several years. All that needs to be done now is add her rudder, build the spars and a table, and put in the wiring and plumbing. She is scheduled to be launched next season.
John Williams & Company of Hall Quarry has a 36 foot Stanley coming up from Connecticut for hull and cockpit repair from damage she suffered in Hurricane Sandy. At this time it is unknown how extensive the repairs will be. A Hinckley 29 is coming in for some teak laminate repair work. A 40-foot Hinckley Talaria will be in for a variety of work. She will need some minor hull repairs, some carpentry work in the pilot house like replacing the wooden overhead and hatches and then completely redo the varnish on the interior.
