Smiley Face On A Stick
1. First take a large round item and lay it on top of a piece of foam. Tape it into place.
2. Take your scissors and cut around the hot plate to make the circle for the face.
3. To make the eyes for your smiley face, take the smaller round item - in this case the lid - and place it on a piece of black foam. Tape it down, and then cut around it so you’re left with a small circle. Repeat. Now you’ve got a pair of eyes.
4. Print out the mustache graphic by clicking on the photo on opposite page. Cut the paper along the edges of the mustache. Tape it to a piece of black foam. Cut out the mustache from the foam.
5. Glue the eyes & mustache onto the large circular piece of foam. (Alternatively, if you’re feeling lazy, you could just glue the paper mustache pattern straight onto the face instead.)
6. Now for a smile. To make a smile for one of your faces, place the hot plate (or whatever large round item you used to trace the shape of the face) onto a piece of black foam, so that the edge of the foam is lined up with the midpoint of the circle. Tape it down, and cut along the bottom edge of the circle so that you end up with a piece of foam in the shape of a half circle.
7. Move the hot plate down by about an inch and cut along the bottom edge of the circle again. You should end up with a crescent.
8. Glue the crescent, along with another pair of eyes, onto another one of your large circular pieces of foam.
9. Set the faces aside in order to let the glue dry.
10. Once the glue is dry, glue each face to a stick. If you’re using the round sticks, it can be a bit tricky to get them to stay in place while the glue is wet. It helps to tape them into place until the glue sets.
Giant Pair Of Lips 1. First, print out the red lip graphic by clicking on the photo on the opposite page to use for your pattern.
2. Cut the lips out of the paper, tape them down onto a pair of red or pink foam and cut out a lips-shaped piece of foam.
3. Fold the paper pattern in half and cut out the white center. Tape the paper center onto a piece of white foam and cut around it. Glue the white piece of foam into the center of the red foam lips. Glue the lips to a stick.
