As anyone who has hunted with Penn- Marydels knows if you have the patience to al- low them to work the line, even though it may be heel, if you let them work it out, you will be rewarded with incredible cry and a tremendous run…because the Penn-Marydel is always true to the line.

While Our Penn-Marydel Hound is a wonderful exploration of history, hounds and hunting, and we are loath to criticize it, we do fi nd the book frustrating in one meaningful way: it could have a used a top-notch proofreader and copy editor. Last names are spelled diff erently within the same paragraph. Individuals are introduced into story lines by fi rst name only. For the next edition, we highly recommend our Anne Moe, who used to perform the same services for Covertside, as well as copy editing “Foxhunting Adventures” by Norman Fine and the MFHA’s “A Centennial View.” It should be noted that any proofreading errors in T e Equiery are the result of rushing to press without having time for Anne to wave her red pen over the copy. We suspect that this book may have also been rushed to press, which seems odd, given that there are no advertising deadline/newsstand distribution commitments or requirements. Our Penn-Marydel Hound can be purchased through the MFHA website for $39.
