‘MY FIRST SECTOR FOCUS GROUP’
Deborah Lally, Group Resourcing Manager for Arcadia Group, tells us all about her first AGR Sector Focus Group meeting, where a lively discussion about social media left her wanting more…
“Social media; the first thing that pops into peoples’ heads is Facebook, and instinctively they question, ‘is it really necessary for recruitment?’. Although social media encompasses a wide range of channels from Facebook to LinkedIn – what is the most relevant tool for graduates? This topic definitely sparked the most debate at my first Sector Focus Group with many retailers in the infancy of launching their social media platforms in favour of
Facebook whilst others remained sceptical. The Sector Focus Group was a great
opportunity to interact with fellow retailers and discuss everything from salary benchmarking to university career fair presence. Everyone contributed freely and the open discussion was pleasantly surprising considering we are essentially competitors sharing information. It was well worth the time and I’m looking forward to meeting again in December.”
