The coffee morning events across all three campuses, including Ardleigh Green, Quarles and the Rainham Construction Centre, raised more than £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Havering College head of student services Margo Lindsay said: “We are delighted that Stacey helped the students and staff to munch their way through a colossal £500 worth of cakes. It was a fantastic result.”
Havering College on Marks for Golden Date at Olympic Park Talented performers from the Havering College Olympic-themed show Inspiration will entertained thousands of visitors as they chilled out between Paralympic events. A group of 50 young people from the college and other learning partners staged a mini version of their show on the Olympic Bandstand on Wednesday, 5th September.
Inspiration is a music, dance, and performance art spectacular themed around the Olympics and Paralympics. It was first performed at
at the London Palladium earlier this year as part of the official Cultural Olympiad.
The college in Hornchurch, Essex, were delighted that Julie-Kate Olivier, daughter of Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Joan Plowright, and Tim Faulkner - whose credits include Casualty, Inspector Morse and Allo! Allo! - once again acted as co- presenters for the show.
Inspiration director/producer Peter Dayson, who lectures in Music at Havering College of Further and Higher Education, said: “To be invited to perform on the Olympic
Bandstand is a once-in-a- lifetime experience for these young people. It is a spectacular looking stage and everyone is incredibly excited.
Almost 500 students from Havering College have been able to witness first hand the thrill and excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer under the Ticketshare scheme for colleges and schools.
The allocation of free tickets was in recognition of the “commitment Havering College and its students have shown to living the Olympic and Paralympic Values”.
