ANEWexhibition of contempo- rary photographywill go on show at the Basement Gallery in the Riverfront Arts Centre today. Threshold showcases contempo-


rary documentary photography and photo books made by emerg- ing artists and practitioners from University of Wales,Newport and is about having the confidence to see the worldinanew way. It will challenge viewers to reconsider the very definition of ‘documen- tary photography’. Works exhibited range from the intenselypersonal, dealing with familial grief, to more social and political pieces exploring poverty and health. There are also moments of beauty and light, the

MOBILEnetwork Three has teamed up with VisitWales to give more than 150,000 megabytes of mobile internet to tourists visiting tourist infor- mation centres inWales over the next year. The initiative,part of Three’s Rural BroadbandWorking Group,aims to provide anyone who visits the Visit Caerphilly Centre,with free internet access through their smart- phone or tablet. The aim of the partnership is


to allowvisitors to search for holidayinformation in an area where they might not have a connection, or where they would otherwise incur expen- sive data roaming charges. Visitors will also be ableto keepincontact with their loved ones using email, social net- works or other internet com- munications services while at the Visit CaerphillyCentre. Three will be providing The


Visit CaerphillyCentre in CaerphillyTownCentre with a MiFi device and 15GB of data per month, whichisenough to browse15,000 web pages,make 60 hours of Skype calls and send around 75,000 emails. Martin Cook, visitor opera- tions manager forCaerphilly County Borough Council, said, “Manyvisitors have smart- phones and tablets butnocon- nectivity when on holiday. “Our experienced and knowl- edgeablestaffwill be ableto help visitors by directing them to online films of local attrac- tions,and help them obtain information on topics suchas downloadablewalks and maps.”
