VISITORS to this year’s Newport Food Festivalwill be tempted by an arrayoffood and drink stalls which will be set up around the city centre on the dayofthe festival, tomorrow. Jamaican patties,Frenchcrepes, traditional faggots and peas,Irish breads,Welsh beef, Thai and Indian street food are among the delicious treats thatwill be on offer. Teenchef final Saturday


YOUNGSTERS across Newport have been battling it out to secure aplace in the Teenchef final, whichwill take place at Newport’s Food Festival tomorrow. Sponsored by the University of


Wales,Newport, the final will see three teams,representing the west, east and central areas of the city,go head-to-head. St Julian’s,StowHill and Rivermead will compete forthe title of Teenchef Champions 2012. The Teenchef competition has


involved youth clubs from across Newport and last weekend sawthe semi final in Newport’s Market Hall, organised by Newport Youth Service. The teams were challenged with


sourcing local and seasonal ingredi- ents availablefromthe market to create a


healthyand tasty dish. Newport- born, Michelin star chef Hywel Jones,fromthe Lucknam Park near Bath, washead judge. The three teams thatgothrough to


the final are St Julian’s with their rackofWelsh lamb with pesto and pine nuts and garlic and potato rosti; StowHill who cooked up lamb cut- lets on abed of leek and garlic mash and Rivermead, who served Chicken Scallopini. The Teenchef final will take place


at 1pm in the Riverfront Theatre, with the prizeofspending time with Hywel Jones in his kitchen at Lucknam Park followed by dinner cooked by Hywel and his team. Tickets forthe final are free and
