Flavour in the Flavel
The main hall in the Flavel will once again be centre stage at the Festival this year. It has proved to be a wonderful asset for putting on some larger events and we have a packed programme lined up. RGC Inspirations of Dartmouth are installing a kitchen which will serve as kitchen, demo theatre and set for the various production. Food Festival events in the Flavel are sponsored by Jelf Group
Thursday 25th Great British Puddings and Pies Street Party. 7pm Great food overseen by Festival Head Chef Serin Aubrey, music, hilarity; and a street party atmosphere. Put together a party and book your seats for a patriotic start to the festival. £25.
Friday 26th Mitch and Monty’s Celebration of British Seafood Lunch. 12:30pm Mitch and Monty will talk about their different experiences of British Fishing as well as their various campaigns to support the industry. Following this you’ll join them for a fabulous fruits de mer of the best British Seafood along with dessert and coffee. £25
Hardeep Singh Kohli’s Indian Takeaway. 8pm Everyone loves a curry - after all, it is Britain’s national dish! Broad- caster, writer and Celebrity Masterchef finalist Hardeep Singh Kohli is on a mission to find the best Indian takeaway in the UK. Hardeep will then race against time to cook his own sumptuous feast before the takeaway arrives. Along the way, he’ll be sharing recipe tips, anecdotes and wonderful stories of his shared Scottish and Indian heritage.
Saturday 27th Get Up And Cook with Alex Mackay. 9:30 – 10:30 Our Children’s Cooking Champion, award winning writer and teacher Alex Mackay, will host a lively hour of cooking with guest chefs for children and families. Inspiring and full of tips and ideas this session is free of charge and no booking is required.
Saturday Morning Live at the Flavel. 11am – 1pm A delicious menu of demonstrations and chat. This year we have hosts Thomasina Miers and Kit Noble. They’ll be joined by celebrated baker Richard Bertinet, South Devon Chilli Farm and others. £5.00.
A Taste for Umbria. 2pm – 3pm Author Christine Smallwood and Chef Jane Baxter have regularly staged a tasting of Puglian Food at our big cousin Abergavenny
Food Festival. This year we are lucky enough to have them here for a tasting based on Christine’s first book and featuring a selection of fine produce, dishes and wines from the central Italian region of Umbria. £10
Opera on The Run - ‘Spaghetti Opera’! 8pm If music be the food of love... sing it! “Opera on the Run serve up an evening program of famous arias and classic dishes from the world of opera and song. They will take you on a discovery through the loves and passions of our celebrity chef Dimitri Stro- ganov and his tales from the pantry”. Our favourite comedy opera singers! Highly recommended
Sunday 28th Sunday Brunch Back by popular demand Festival Chairman David Jones and his fellow Kingswear Landladies, Kit Noble and Tony Pithers, will give us an amusing cooking demo whilst festival Head Chef Serin Aubrey prepares Sunday Brunch for you to enjoy. £10.
