CPhI Worldwide: Madrid hosts UBM Live Pharma flagship events

Find out more about what to expect from leading event CPhI Worldwide, and co-located shows ICSE, P-MEC Europe and InnoPack, taking place this year at Feria de Madrid, Spain from October 9-11.

CPhI Worldwide for pharmaceutical ingredients, ICSE for outsourced and contract services, P-MEC Europe for pharmaceutical machinery and equipment resources, and InnoPack for innovative packaging services and solutions, are being hosted at Feria de Madrid, Spain from October 9-11, 2012. The organisers again expect to break records with projections for more than 30,000 attendees and more than 2,200 exhibitors from 140 countries. This year 108 new exhibiting companies are participating and event attendance retention is the highest ever at 84 per cent.

Evolving events CPhI Worldwide and its associated exhibitions and conferences have been established as the leading events for pharmaceutical intermediates, ingredients, excipients and related technologies and services for many years and they continue to evolve and develop to meet the industry’s needs. Andrew Pert, UBM Live’s new Brand Director for the events in Europe, Japan, South America and South East Asia, explains how the company is achieving its aims of improving the value of these events for exhibitors and visitors alike: “We are continuing to evolve the events by remaining focused on attendee and exhibitor

return on investment,” he says. “Part of this includes making sure that our visitors can navigate the events easily. You will see that the popular zoning format is not only returning, but also features new additions based on industry trends and key focus areas. “Another key factor of navigation hinges on the global component of the events,” he continues. “CPhI, Worldwide and co-located events attract exhibitors and visitors from around the world and many of our guests are looking for resources in a specific geographical area. We cater to these needs through the offering of Global Pavilions, which we are pleased to say have grown from 13 to 15 this year. These have proven to be a good way for vendors from specific regions to be easily located and have received positive feedback from our customer base. 2012 features the introduction of two new dedicated pavilions for Russia and Malaysia, which are both regions with rapid growth in the pharmaceutical industry. They will be complemented by the return of Global Pavilions for Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, India, Ireland, Korea, Morocco, Portugal, Scotland, and the UK, as well as the North American Pavilion, which is supported by SOCMA.”

The organisers decided which areas to focus

on in order to improve the event based on visitor feedback. According to Pert, as they lead into a show, they field many requests and inputs from customers and at the close of each show invest in an audited report from exhibitors and attendees:

“This information is compiled and reviewed by our events team to isolate what areas are successful, and others that need further development. As we do this, we also focus in on market trends and how they apply to our attendees so that we can incorporate that into our planning. Things like the zoning format, which has been expanded this year, and the addition of a new category in the awards are direct reflections of this process. We want our offering to be relevant and valuable to our customer base. “We also like to stay keyed in to what will increase the return on investment for our customers, which you see reflected through the introduction of the CPhI Global Meetings programme, which allows visitors to schedule customised meetings, and the introduction of the CPhI Mobile app to help navigate the events, stay in tune with social media, and increase networking opportunities. “As we are getting closer to the events in Madrid, we are already hard at work on the 2013 Worldwide events at Messe Frankfurt in Germany. There we plan to introduce a Natural Extracts zone in 2013, and feature the return of CPhI Global meetings. We are also looking into improving exhibitor return on investment by hosting webinars with tips and providing a full offering of marketing tools such as exhibitor invites,” he says.

Commitment to sustainability In addition to the extended services at the event for exhibitors and attendees alike, Pert emphasises the organisers’ commitment to sustainability, which he says has always been an important theme for UBM Live in all its events. He says this commitment has been strengthened for 2012 and that it will continue to be strengthened in the future:
