MMEA Election Results


MMEA is pleased to welcome the newest members of the Executive Committee:


Kelli Salisbury, President-Elect Kelli teaches first and second grade general music in the DeWitt Public School District. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and is currently working on her Master’s degree (2013). Kelli has presented at both state and regional conferences/workshops and has recently been featured in the Michigan Music Educator (v.46 No.2 Winter 2008). In addition to teaching elementary general music, she continues to play her oboe in the Oakland Symphony and the Mason Symphony. She also serves on the board for the Mason Symphony as Secretary. She teaches oboe students privately in DeWitt and Haslett, MI.


Lindsey Micheel-Mays, Secretary


Lindsey earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Michigan where she graduated with highest honors. She has taught elementary general music and beginning band in the Michigan Center School District since 2004, and she regularly opens her classroom to pre-service teachers from area colleges and universities. Lindsey has served on the MMEA board since 2006, and she has served as the secretary since 2007. As the Early Careers Chairperson, Lindsey planned two statewide Early Career Conferences for beginning


teachers. She was subsequently awarded the 2008 Hilda Humpreys Award for appreciation of “service to MMEA and the cause of music education in the State of Michigan.” Lindsey also served on the Planning Committee for the Michigan Music Conference, and she contributed to the Michigan Music Educator with an article on the power of action research.


Lisa DuPrey, Treasurer


Lisa is currently in her fifth year of teaching K-4 general music in Davison Community Schools. She has been a member of MMEA since her undergraduate student days and has regularly attended the Michigan Music Conference. Lisa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Michigan State University in 2007, and is currently in her third and final year of her Master’s Degree at The University of Michigan. Lisa has worked with pre-student teachers and mentors students from the University of Michigan–Flint.
