tefan Litvinjenko has a name and a face to lookout for. At just 18 years of age, he is already leaving his mark and a lasting impression in the fashion world. Currently spending the Summer in Shanghai, China, the well-spoken model is focused, confident and ready to take on Asia by storm. When he re- turns to Ottawa for his second year of University this Fall, he’ll be focused, confident and ready to take on his studies. I sat down with Stefan at the annual Angie’s Models and Talent International Showcase at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, where we discussed his academic pursuits and aspiring modelling career.

what inspired me. I just got into it one day. I started going to open casting calls. Of course, my mom be- ing a mom, she has to tell me I’m the most beautiful child in the world, but I wanted to try and see if I re- ally did have a shot. I went to different agencies and I got some positive feedback having no experience at all – no pictures, no nothing. I had some kind of look and agents were interested in me.

fM: What are your initial goals when you get into modelling on a full-time basis? SL: I would like to be placed with a major agency in every city. For example, in Milan, I would like to sign up with WhyNot Models.

fM: Who would you like to model for? SL: I’m a huge fan of Michael Kors and Gucci. I like a lot of Zara as well, but there’s really no one in par- ticular that I’d like to model for. I just want to enjoy the international experience.

fM: Tell us about yourself. SL: I’m from Belgrade, Serbia. I moved to Canada when I was two years old. I grew up in Toronto. I live in Ottawa eight months out of the year to study Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. I split my time between Ottawa and Toronto. I model with two agencies at the moment. When I’m in Ottawa, I’m signed with Angie’s Models and Talent and when in Toronto, I’m with Elite Model Management. I just finished my first year of University. I’ve always been interested in academics, especially Science. My plan is to study over the school year and model during the summer. I’m trying to see if I can do both. Once I finish my program in three years, I would like to model full-time.

fM: How did you get into modelling? SL: I don’t have an amazing origin story – like I was discovered in a mall or at a concert or anything like that - I just wanted to become a model. I don’t know

MEN Indian summer 2012

fM: Are there any particular models whose careers you’d like to mirror? SL: I have lots of guys I look up to. I like Ryan Taylor. Uhm, I actually know Alex Loomans personally. I really like him as well. He’s an Amorosa model. He started modelling when he was 17 – just like I did. He’s 23 now. He has modelled for Polo. say he’s a supermodel.

I’d like to

fM: What contracts have you signed in Asia? SL: I’m signed with an agency called ManWoman. I have a three-month placement. I will be going to dif- ferent casting calls [it could be for shoes, hair, just about anything] and we’ll see what happens.

fM: This is going to be an amazing adventure for you. SL: This is my first international trip. I’ve done some local contracts in Toronto and in Ottawa, but this is overseas and it’s going to be really big.
