Sedation and Implant Dentistry Acquires Low- Radiation X-Ray Machine

S

edation and Implant Dentistry, in St. Paul, announces the addition of a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) machine for X-rays and scans. This technology, which is not available at all dentists’ offices, provides multiple images of patients’ teeth while exposing them to less radiation than traditional dental technology. The CBCT imaging system features high-speed scanning and pulsed X-rays,

which lowers radiation exposure. During the procedure, the patient is reclined, which reduces image-blurring patient movement by 50 percent, resulting in more accurate images and thus less need for retakes and resulting additional exposure. As there is no need for restraints, the patient also is quite comfortable and does not experience a “closed-in” feeling. Multiple fields of view, which can be increased when needed, allow for various uses, such as implants and surgery, in one system. “We are cautious about radiation exposure and want to provide you with the best imaging while using the lowest needed X-ray dose,” says dentist Karl Ander- son, of Sedation and Implant Dentistry. “As always, we want to offer the best care and the best technology that we believe will help to better diagnose and treat your dental needs. The smallest field of view will be used for most routine X-rays, but the great thing is that it will provide us with the 3D image, with more depth and clarity than the ‘normal’ digital panoramic that we were taking, which was in 2D.”

Location: Sedation and Implant Dentistry, 1858 Suburban Ave., St. Paul. For more information, call 651-735-4661 or visit ToothBuilder.com. See ad, page 28.

Call for Cover Art and Photography

C

reative individuals that would like to see their work featured on the cover of a nationally distributed magazine now have an exceptional opportunity: Natural Awakenings is extending a call for cover art and photography and accepting submissions online via a dedi- cated webpage. The monthly healthy living, franchised publication, available free in more than 80 cities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, is known for eye-catch- ing covers that feature original works by artists from around the world. “This is an exciting opportunity for artists and photographers to be featured on one of our covers and reach a huge new audience, because our readership exceeds 3.6 million,” says founder and CEO Sharon Bruckman. Selected artists that grant permission to print their work on a cover are featured in a one-third page, professionally written “Cover Artist/ Photographer” editorial (bio) that intro- duces the artist and includes their website and contact information. Natural Awakenings covers reflect monthly editorial themes, and a variety of selections are distributed to all franchise publishers so they can choose which cover they want to run. “Our covers celebrate creativity and our mission of mapping out alternate routes to a health- ier, happier, longer life that feels good all the way around,” says Bruckman. “Art and photography that are inspiring, uplifting and occasionally whimsical can unlock our imagination and nurture our spirit.”
