Summer2012
The focus of the Pardon was an opportunity for us to have a lovely, fun and relaxing weekend in Brittany: and we certainly did that. Despite some cool and showery conditions, we all had a marvellous time, whether or not we were religious. The weekend started on the Friday with us making our own way to our hotel in Tregastel, further west along the coast from Tréguier. A group of us took the Ryanair flight from Stansted to Dinard, with a minibus to the hotel. Meeting up, we then all marched down to a typical Breton restaurant with excellent value food and wines overlooking one of the many attractive inlets on this rose granite coast.
Sleeping soundly after enjoying the hotel’s honour system late bar, we enjoyed a leisurely but good French buffet
breakfast
on our Saturday tour. In the morning we visited the Chateau de Kergrist
which dates from the 15th century, was confiscated by the National Government after the French Revolution, but in the 19th century became the home of a leading political family. It is full of the most charming furniture, paintings, clothes and embroidery
from its before setting out
varied history, but still run as a private castle. And in the afternoon, we visited the Chateau de Rosanbo which dates from the 14th century and is still held by the Rosanbo family despite most of the then family being guillotined in Revolutionary France. It has a most impressive landscaped park overlooking the Bo valley. The park was designed by Achille Duchêne in 1910. Typically it is a series of interconnecting
terraces, squares,
rectangles and long foliage arches, all in different shades of green, and with

Our lunch stop was at the Brittany home of London solicitor Bryan Lincoln and his wife Jolanda in the tucked away retreat of Plouegat-Moysan. We enjoyed the beautiful views from their garden, which itself
consists of a
series of trimmed green avenues. After drinking all their fizz, we then moved onto their large kitchen table groaning with delicious food, and
