Get Outdoors Florida!

LIVING IN FLORIDA HAS ITS PERKS! As the only sub-tropical climate in the country we are privileged to have an abundance of natural resources and the opportunity to experience the wonder of our nature’s resources. Get Outdoors Florida! is a product of a wide

array of partners coming together to address public well-being, health issues, and natural resource conservation. While getting people back to nature remains the main purpose, connecting communities with nature, enhancing greater environmental education, child welfare, public health, and wildlife conservation allows us to observe first hand the connection between nature and our community.

MENDED HEARTS

For over 50 years Mended Hearts has been offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families, and caregivers. Our chapter, in Naples, was established in 1996 and is affiliated with the American Heart Association and the NCH Healthcare System. Their principle objective is to visit with physician’s

approval and offer support and encouragement to heart patients through their local visiting program. Because Mended Hearts is made up of the very kind of people it serves-those impacted by heart disease-its members draw on personal experience as they help others. Members listen, share their experiences, learn from healthcare professions and volunteer to talk to other heart patients about the rich, rewarding life they can lead after heart disease including: lifestyle changes, depression, recovery, and treatment. If you or someone you know has suffered

from heart disease or you would like to volunteer to share your own personal experiences with heart disease patients, Mended Hearts welcomes your call.

BTG | grace LACES OF

It may come as a surprise, but over 55% of Collier County public school students are designated “economically needy.” Since 2005, Laces of Love has supplied new shoes to over 30,000 needy children, from toddlers through high school seniors. Laces of Love does not give shoes directly to families,

Love

but rather distributes the shoes through Collier and Lee County public schools in care of guidance counselors and school nurses and through other non-profit organizations that serve needy children. The shoes are fitted and given in the privacy of the staff offices. In addition, Laces also facilitates the donation of cleats and sports shoes to many student athletes in Southwest Florida. For many the Laces of Love shoes are the first pair of new shoes the child ever had. New sneakers and monetary donations (100% of which are used to purchase shoes unless otherwise designated) are extremely important and gratefully accepted.
