Hot 100 2012 PRODUCERS

11 Phil Clarke Objective Productions

As executive producer for all of Objective Productions’ scripted comedy, Phil Clarke could have been in this list for his work on Peep Show alone. But it is for the surprise smash hit Fresh Meat, a Channel 4 comedy-drama made in conjunction with Lime Pictures, that he gets the nod. Along with impressive viewing figures, the series has picked up two RTS Awards, a British Comedy Award, an NME award and two Bafta nominations. A second series was commissioned before the first was completed, which is almost the ideal valida- tion. After showcasing the talents of Milton Jones and Armstrong and Miller for C4 pilots, he’s now steering one from Father Ted co-creator Arthur Mathews, House Of Toast, which will be pride of place in C4’s summer comedy season.

When Channel 4 axed Big Brother and was looking for shows to fill the void, few would have bet on a gameshow format being a pos- sible plug. But that is exactly how it turned out, thanks to Remark- able’s The Million Pound Drop Live, the high-jeopardy game in which the piles of money disap- pear before the contestants’ eyes.
