NIGHT TRAIN TO LISBON (Ger-Switz-Port) Director Bille August and star Jeremy Irons had something of a homecoming in Portugal with Night Train To Lisbon (now in post), having shot The House Of The Spirits there 19 years ago. “Working on the script has been a lot about making this big novel [Pascal Mercier’s 2004 bestseller] into a two- hour film, but also to create that very, very mysterious atmosphere. It’s about a man who is trying to look for the truth. And slowly, scene by scene, new doors open and he meets a lot of secret and mysterious, inaccessible people,” the Danish director tells Screen about the film, which wrapped its eight-week shoot in May. K5 handles international sales and
has recently added deals in Italy (Archibald), Eastern Europe (EEAP) and Latin America (Swen).
