running. To fi nd the young actors and fi lm-makers, she spends months reading scripts, watching short fi lms, features, TV and theatre. This year Halligan has widened the
selection to include a composer and a cinematographer for the fi rst time. “The UK is bristling with talent. Each
year it’s a surprise to see how many more new names are out there making an impact,” she says.
