Right: a sale of decorative arts held by Piasa on May 11 featured a pair of 2ft 7in (80cm) high Lalique wall lights (one shown here), a model of 1925 moulded with fountains to the backplates. They overtook an estimate set at €1500-2000 to account for damage and restoration to take €37,000 (£30,835).

Above: a specialist sale of scent bottles at Couteau-Begarie on June 11 was led by this post-war Surrealist creation from Baccarat for Schiaparelli’s Le Roy Soleil based on a 1943 design by Salvador Dali. This 6½in (17cm) high bottle which came in its 10in (24cm) high shell- shaped case realised €13,500 (£11,250).


Above: a French Art Nouveau champlévé- enamelled gold, pearl and diamond pendant and chain c.1900, sold for €6000 (£5000) in a sale of paintings and decorative arts at Pescheteau-Badin on May 25.
