We know that just experiencing these magical blue skies and mild weather are enough to keep you here. We hope you enjoy your time in these enchanting lands. This month we bring you our annual “Men’s Health” issue. Guys, this

month you will find articles on hormone balancing, exercising, detoxing, and many others, along with a conversation between a father and son. We do hope you find this issue so informative that rather than making a quick journey to the recycling bin, you let this issue hang around to assist you on your life journey. I recently returned from a long weekend getaway to the big city (we lo- cals need to travel too), and I noticed a significant change in our society that perturbed me. Did this almost just happen overnight? In waiting in airports, walking down the street, even just sitting in a restaurant, we seem to be losing our connectivity to one another. Almost everyone is glaring into a cell phone or iPad, and not even noticing the space around them. Have our electronic devices become our new best friends? Is this an avoidance to communicate with your fellow man? Where is this going, any ideas? In our feature article this month on page 16, Healthy Escapes, you will hear from one of our regulars, Judith Fertig, and she addresses these very issues— digital detox or becoming unplugged. I hope our visitors to New Mexico will consider just that. We want you to relax while you are here, taking the time to reconnect with yourself. One of the most magical experiences I have in just a simple day getaway is to take a drive north, have lunch in El Rito or Abiquiu, perhaps a warm soak at the springs at Ojo Caliente Resort, and stopping by Ghost Ranch or the monastery in the canyon. I think more than anything this day just gives me time for myself, which it seems we all seldom have time for any more. There are no cell towers in this part of the state, so it’s the perfect alone time experience if you have the opportunity. In the words of George Edward Moore, “A man travels the world in search

of what he needs and returns home to find it.” So well put! So take a few more close-to-home staycations to cleanse and reflect on what is most important. Just remember to put away that cell phone. We hope you enjoy, and have a GREAT summer. To the men in our lives,

Jeff Browne
