The State of Your Health Is In the Sound of Your Voice

by Kathleen Nagy W

e all know that our voices change in different situa- tions. For instance, if we

are sick, tired or excited, our vocal qualities reflect our current state. It has been noted that all physical and emotional changes are echoed in the sounds of our voices. Some people’s voices are very calming, some are energizing, and still some others are irritating to our ears. Could it be we choose our friends based on how they sound to us? Perhaps their voice has a frequency that we are missing. Human BioAcoustics, or the study of human life sounds as developed by Sharry Edwards, posits that the brain uses the information it receives from the vocal chords and the ear to keep the body in homeostasis. Edwards has developed a protocol that taps into that feedback loop between the voice, the ear, and the brain. A simple voice recording using a microphone and a computer captures the exact same information that the voice is sending to the brain via the ear and cranial nerves that innervate the vocal chords. The famous French audiologist,

Alfred Tomatis, discovered that “The voice produces what the ear hears.” Dorinne Davis, founder of The Davis Center, one of the world’s premier

sound therapy centers, has published an addendum to the “Tomatis Effect” which adds, “and the ear emits the same stressed frequencies that are emitted by the voice.” Her research as an audiologist, educator and sound therapist has demonstrated the scien- tific principles behind the voice-ear- brain connection. Many of us have heard a high ringing sound in our ears. While there are illnesses that will cause the ears to ring, there are also healthy normal sounds that the ear produces called Spontaneous Otto Acoustic Emissions. These are the sounds that Edwards— with her world-famous super hear- ing abilities—hears coming from people. Edwards has created a new BioAcoustic science which correlates the stressed frequencies in a person’s voice to exact frequency equivalents of muscles, vertebrae, biochemical and nutrients. She is able to show relation- ships between a base frequency and its mathematical harmonics as they pertain to the state of a person’s health. If matter vibrates and sound is

vibration then wouldn’t it be logical to conclude that sound affects matter? As a sound expands within a closed space like the human body, it produc- es harmonics. These are the sounds that vibrate sympathetically with each other because they are mathematically related. BioAcoustic theory has cre- ated an incredible database of “Fre- quency Equivalents” that can be used to balance the stressed frequencies found in a vocal recording. Harmonic frequency combinations are presented as low frequency analog sound. It is a type of biofeedback. Taking informa- tion from the sound of a client’s voice, a BioAcoustic Practitioner can play the exact low frequency balancing sounds that their client’s voice was telling their brain it needed. Once the brain hears that sound it realizes it now has the energy to activate the body’s natural healing processes. Fascinating health reports can be produced using Sharry Edwards’ Bio- Acoustic software. Information like the nutrients one’s body needs or which muscles are too tight or too weak can be very useful to health providers and fitness professionals. All of this information can be gleaned from the sound of a person’s voice. a
