Exhibition on Olympics
ANOLYMPIC-themed exhibition is running at Newport’s Museum and Art Gallery. The Following the Flame/DilynY
Fflam Project celebrates the histo- ry of Welsh men and women who attended the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Followthe origins of the Olympic Games in Greece (776BC) through to their demise more than 1,000 years later;ontothe important role Britain playedinthe Olympics’ re- establishment in Athens in 1896 and the birth of the Paralympics in 1948, andmanysignificant episodes since,focusing mainlyonWelsh participation and achievement. The exhibition includesamoving
film with aspecially-composed music soundtrack; newportraits of Welsh Olympians and Paralympians commissioned from Welsh artists; asculpture of Paulo Radmilovic,Wales’ greatest Olympian, sporting memorabilia, Olympic Torches and muchmore. The museum opens Mondayto

Take alook at art in shop
ANexhibition, Painters and Printmakers,ison-going at Abergavenny’s Art Shop and
Gallery.The showfeatures recent paintings and prints by some of the shop’s regular exhibitors. The Art Shop can be found in a
renovated 16th century building in Cross Street in the town. Collections of ceramics,textiles,
book art, jewellery,sculpture, printmaking and paintings are dis- playedonthe first floor,along with aregularly changing programme of exhibitions,talks,events and work- shops.
Blaenavon Torch events
