Following the success of the Commonwealth Games Business Portal, Glasgow City Council, in conjunction with various partners, has developed the Glasgow Business Portal to advertise both public and private sector contracts.


Delivering the cities major reconstruction projects, together with the 2014 Commonwealth Games, will require the procurement of goods, works and services of all types and value from a range of companies. The Glasgow Business Portal brings together contractors and suppliers and provides businesses of all sizes the opportunity to find out about and compete for business opportunities.

Free business consultancy available


Property Register


Did you know that the East Lothian Council website holds a property register of available industrial, office and retail premises around East Lothian. Updated monthly the register is the premier local resource for council and privately owned property for sale, lease or rent. Just search for property register on www.eastlothian.gov.uk to access the latest version.


East Lothian Council has secured funding to provide free business consultancy support for businesses in the county. In conjunction with the Business Gateway, the council offers the opportunity for businesses to benefit from free consultancy in the following areas:


• the use of social media as a marketing tool


• search engine optimisation • one-to-one support for businesses intending to apply for public sector contracts through the Procurement Scotland website.


• advice on energy efficiency, energy feed in tariffs and cutting waste for companies working out of commercial premises.
