Spirit in the sky An exciting research experiment involving Ardbeg
whisky was unveiled at Edinburgh’s International Science Festival in April. The experiment, led by American-based space research company NanoRacks, will explore how Ardbeg-crafted molecules interact with charred oak both within the Earth’s gravity and also in space. This is the fi rst time that these molecules will have been studied in microgravity, and the results – which will not be known for at least another two years – are likely to effect the Islay-based distillery’s future commercial and research products.
