By now last month’s Easter candy has contributed to this month’s cavities. Ostensibly we bought candy for our nieces and nephews, but we always end up with more than we need and the leftovers go right to our hips and bottoms. It’s time to get in shape, summer is almost here and we need to get our bodies “beach ready.” We don’t want people trying to drag us back into the water, thinking that they’re saving our lives.

Daisy: Yes, I need to run, run, run those chocolate bunnies away! Jessica: I have been doing that work out video you

gave me last year. Brazilian Butt Lift! April was filled with an assortment of great events.

We started the month by attending the production Deconstruction of a Drag Queen at the 10th Avenue Theatre and Art Center downtown. The play is based in part on the life of local diva, Grace Towers and other San Diego performers. Daisy: It was a great production, really touching.

It reminded me that we are not alone, that there are people in the world who will open their hearts and make you part of their family. I have built my own supportive family and the love we give each other is very important to overcoming the many obstacles we have faced in life. Jessica:Wow! It really touched me too. I realized I

am so blessed to have accepting parents—I know not all of us are so fortunate. Thank you Grace Towers for such a great production. To all you queens out there afraid to tell your loved ones, know that you can make it through anything with the support of the family you’re born into, or the family you create for yourself. That same night, after the play, we attended the

Bear Night at Numbers to dance with our favorite bear DJ, Jon Williams. There were all shapes and sizes—we were in furry bear heaven. Daisy: I do love me some hirsute studs for sure. Jessica: So much fun, thanks Jason, Diego and Rick for dealing with my furry self and to all those muscle

have loved to be a part of the number. Jessica: I’m very proud of you Lenette. You look stunning! So what is in store for May you ask? Well to start

with, we would like to invite all of you to attend Mama’s Day 2012 onFriday, May 11 at the Hyatt Re- gency La Jolla at Aventine. This is one of San Diego’s premiere tasting events, featuring yummy dishes from more than 55 of San Diego’s top chefs. The event is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Visitmamaskitchen.org and click the events tab to get more information and to purchase your tickets. Daisy: Events like this are bad for this girl’s diet

and aren’t going to help me achieve my beach body. I’ll allow this one extravagance though, because I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Jessica: Oh those delicious food events! I think I

might need to get my stomach stapled next year—I need to stop eating or at least staple my lips together. We love musicals and theater, so our next sugges-

bears—grrrrr….see you soon! We didn’t make it, but got a full report on theWhite

Party from our friends who attended. This year had many special performances: Mary J. Blige, Neon Hitch, JoJo, Rye Rye, Melanie Amaro and Jessie & the Toy Boys. Every party had plenty of sexy guys and this year our friends from Andrew Christian joined in the fun by having some very sexy and playful perfor- mances by their models. Daisy: I wish I could have been there but I have a

rule about Easter. Every other year I spend it with my family and the other years I attend the White Party— so I’ll see you there next year! After a weekend off, we got all dressed up and at-

tended theGLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles at the Westin Bonaventure. It’s a star-studded affair we never miss. Aside from the importance of recogniz- ing outstanding folks who help promote and protect the LGBT community in the media, the night features dinner, cocktails and the opportunity for photos with many celebrities. Daisy: Hello, my name is Daisy and I’m a star-

whore…there I said it. Jessica: my name is Jessica and… well I got to see

Cher! We closed the month by attending the Princess

and Prince Ball to cheer on our girl Lenette. It was great to see her and the Golden Chicks performing in her special number. Daisy: it was too bad that we were in the middle of production for this issue of the magazine. We would

tion sends you to The Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park for The Scottsboro Boys. A musical based on the notorious Alabama case from the 1930s. This inspir- ing story tells of nine African American men unjustly accused of crimes they did not commit, whose trials, convictions and unjust treatment would eventually spark the civil rights movement. The musical is play- ing through Sunday, June 10, so we recommend you make plans to go see it. Go to oldglobe.org for details and tickets. Daisy: This is an amazing production about an

important moment in history, brought to life with music and song. Last, but not least, Long Beach Pride is Saturday

and Sunday, May 19 and 20. Long Beach kicks off Southern California pride season, so head north and enjoy a great weekend. Walking through the pride festival with a cool and refreshing cocktail is fantas- tic—one nice feature of this event because you aren’t forced to stay in the beer garden with your drinks. Remember though, in Long Beach the parade is on Sunday, not Saturday like we’re used to in San Diego. Jessica: I can’t wait to attend this year. I think we should have a float, or at least sit in the Benz and wave, sis! Daisy: I’m really looking forward to the start of the

Pride season…and I can’t wait to visit my Long Beach friends—and gurl, to see the mighty Queen Latifah! With that we say adios until next time. Don’t forget

that Cinco de Mayo (literally meaning “5th of May”) is coming up. We will be celebrating with our sister Barbarah and the Golden Chicks at the Brass Rail, so come join us! And remember don’t drink and drive—stay safe San Diego and make sure to add us on Facebook.
