Happy Way Healing Offers Free Introductory Sessions

F Spruce Krause

or more than 20 years, Spruce Krause, of Happy Way Healing, has sought to help improve the lives of area residents, and she continues to add holistic meth- ods and skills to her repertoire. Krause

holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from St. Mary’s Graduate Center, in Minneapolis, and recently became certified in Laughter Yoga, which she is providing in both special group and individual classes. She is also offering a free 30-minute ses- sion for new clients in Reiki, distant healing, therapeutic massage and other modalities, either at a Minneapolis location, at home or on the phone. To infuse her clients’ days with brighter energy, Krause offers this suggestion: “In the morning, set an intention to look for what is positive: people that are being kind to each other, beauty in nature, and times when you feel peaceful and in the moment,” she advises. “Put a soft, small smile on your lips and place your hand on your heart, if you are in a suitable place. Bring to mind someone you easily love—an uncomplicated relationship, pos- sibly a pet—and send them loving thoughts and energy.”

Metroboard Electric Skateboards

T

o reduce air pollu- tion and avoid high costs at the pump, it makes good sense to consider alternatives to gas-powered vehicles. Kef Design, LLC, based in Portland, Oregon, designs and manufactures Metroboard electric skateboards, using advanced technology in batteries, motors and electronics to create a portable vehicle that weighs just 17 pounds, yet can range up to 15 miles. “Our product is fun, but is not a toy,” says company owner

Ilan Sabar. “Many of our customers use it for daily short-range commuting to or from work or the train/ferry station, eliminating the need for a car in many situations. It’s also really popular with college students for zipping from dorm to class.” Metroboard has been in business since 2004, and since

launching online vending in 2007, the company has garnered customers around the world. The firm now offers four board sizes or will custom build a Metroboard with whatever deck a customer chooses. Lithium batteries are another option, reducing the prod- uct weight significantly, while increasing range and cycle life.

Board prices start at $499. For more information, call 503- 287-2228, email info@Metro-Board.com or visit Metro- Board.com.

watches over the children while the provider is away so the parents don’t have to miss work or use vacation days. The children benefit by being in familiar surroundings without disruptions in their routine. “Every time I take on a new client, I spend time there to learn the house rules and routines. I also try to meet the parents and address any concerns they may have,” says Netkow. She also helps parents seeking in-home day care providers by provid- ing advice about important questions that should be asked and how to be thorough during the research and decision process. Netkow provides background checks and references from

multiple sources and clients; is certified in CPR/First Aid; and has completed many courses, including Shaken Baby Syndrome. She continues to update her training and stays abreast of all the state and federal regulations pertaining to in-home day care.
