Show Your Love for Hampton and Win Hampton Jazz Festival Tickets

Roads Messenger and the Hampton Convention and Visitors Bureau have teamed up to bring the 2012 Show Your Love for Hampton Photo Contest. The contest is designed to highlight the city of Hampton’s many attractions and the winning photos will be featured in the June edition of the Hampton Roads Messenger. One lucky grand prize winner will also receive 2 tickets to the 2012 Hampton Jazz Festival.
To enter, Have a photo taken of
yourself, or of you with family and friends, having fun at your favorite Hampton hangout or landmark; the location could be the Hampton Coliseum, the Virginia Air & Space Center, Buckroe Beach, the Peninsula Town Center, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, or any of the other cool places inside the city of Hampton. Once you have your “Show Your
Love” photo, email it to photos@
hamptonroadsmessenger.com with the subject “Show Your Love for Hampton Contest”. Please send photo captions with each submission, which should include names of persons in the image, the location in Hampton where the image was taken, your phone number and the name of the photographer (if different from the submitter).

declining to answer). But a plurality isn’t a majority, and based on this poll, it’s not accurate to say “most” favor repeal.
On the other hand, there are polls showing majorities in favor of repeal.
A survey of 1,000 “likely voters”
was conducted March 17-18 by Rasmussen Reports, for example. Rasmussen reported that 56 percent “at least somewhat favor” repeal, including 46 percent “who strongly favor it.”
Not all adults tell poll-takers they
are likely to vote, however. So the Rasmussen poll doesn’t cover all adults. And Rasmussen’s polling in the 2010 elections tended to show Republicans doing several points better than they actually did on Election Day.

7 Nevertheless, the Rasmussen results
are in line with a poll by Quinnipiac University, whose 2010 polling much more accurately predicted the election outcomes that year.
During Feb. 14-20, that poll asked
2,605 registered voters the question, “Do you think Congress should try to repeal the health care law, or should they let it stand?” And it reported these results:
52 percent said “should repeal it.”
39 percent said “should let it stand.”
10 percent were listed as saying “don’t know” or giving no answer. (The total adds up to 101 percent,
the nearest whole number.)
So, Romney and others would be
correct to say that some polls show most Americans — or at least most voters — favor repeal. But not all polls.

creativity and originality; the top 10 photos will be featured in HRM’s June edition, and all entries will be entered into a random drawing in which one lucky winner will receive 2 tickets to the 2012 Hampton Jazz Festival for Friday, June 22. The festival will take place over a three-day period at the Hampton Coliseum on June 22, 23, and 24, and will feature some of the greatest names in R&B, Soul and Smooth Jazz.

Love for Hampton Photo Contest, which is exclusively for Hampton Roads Messenger readers, is open to anyone in the U.S. Contestants must be 18 years old or older as of April 1, 2012. When submitting photography that includes people, the contestant is responsible for obtaining necessary releases from the individuals depicted and providing copies of those releases to the Hampton Roads Messenger upon request. Contestants may submit up to three separate photo entries; however, each photo should be of a different Hampton location.
